AfDB presidency: 15 African countries endorse Adesina’s leadership

Fifteen African leaders led by President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended the sterling performance of Prof Akinwinmi Adesina in the past five years of his leadership of African Development Bank(AfDB) and hence declared their unflinching support for his reelection as the AfDB President.
Their position was contained in a letter jointly signed by eleven African serving and former heads of state and government and endorsed by four others.
According to the leaders,Professor Adesina has in the last five years not only raised a $10 billion crisis response facility for African countries but also initiated a $3billion fight COVID-19 social bond adding that the bond is the most successful of such in the world.
In a press release titled-Need for Caution,the African leaders observed that the continent is going through difficult period which only the Presidency of AfDB by Prof Adesina could rise up to.
It stated that across the continent the work of the bank under Professor Akinwunmis leadership have been successful and impactful for the continent.
As a result,the leaders declares that the stakeholders of the bank in more than 80 countries of the World have raised the capital base of the bank to $115billion dollars.
The leaders stated that in spite of the banks AAA rating,some elements and whistleblowers are bent on hanging up against his return to the leadership of the board in spite of his clear by the Board of Ethics of the bank of any wrong doing.
