COVID-19: We do not have community speead in Ekiti – Commissioner

The Ekiti Government has disclosed that its has succeeded in tracing all contacts of the last three index cases recorded in the state few days ago.

The commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade made the disclosure at the press briefing by the members of the Ekiti Covid 19 Task force held at Conference Hall Governor’s Office ,Ado- Ekiti.

Dr Yaya – Kolade said that there was only four contacts noting they have been isolated as well as quarantined at the state Infection Disease Control Centre.

The commissioner also hinted that the state is currently equipping another 120 beds space centre to house contacts and any new index cases in the state.

Dr Yaya -Kolade assured residents of the state that everything was under control saying that the state doesn’t have issue of community spread of Covid 19.

“Masks are not supposed to be worned under your nose. Let’s use it in a proper way and it has been confirmed to reduce the spread of the pandemic”. She advised

In his contribution, the Chairman of the Task force and Director General office of Transformation and Strategy Prof Bolaji Aluko noted that government is currently collaborating with the Traditional rulers of border communities to stem down compromised security at the border towns.

“We have identified 13 border communities where violators were trying to access the state and proper security have been put there”. He hinted.

While Making his contribution, the state Commissioner for information and Values Orientation Aare Muyiwa Olumilua said that curfew was still in place noting that all guidelines guiding the new Lockdown regime was still in operations.

Aare Olumilua appealed to all residents of the state to follow regulations on social distancing and regular hand washing as well as use of sanitizers stressing that this is a collective responsibility to end Corona virus in the country.

The commissioner for Environment in the state, Hon.Gbenga Agbeyo noted that the state was set to start using the Fumigators donated by Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Ogunwusi.

Agbeyo said that the Environmental Task Force under his leadership is working with the security agents to enforce law and ensure that all the terms and conditions under the lockdown was strictly followed.
