Free food package for elders and vulnerable at Akinale and surrounding villages
The Charity of Light Christians Super Bikers Association of Nigeria, zoomed into Akinale on power bikes today Tuesday April 21, to distribute free packages of 200 loafs of 700 grams weight bread jointly sponsored by them and Sweet Sensation in Abeokuta to elders and vulnerable as anti-hunger in the trending lockdown against COVID-19.
According Mr. Ibi Somefun, who spoke on behalf of the bikers whose hobbies include mobile evangelism named “Church on wheel, Jesus Road, so do we” said the pestilence of COVID-19 was a war of disruption which caught humanity by surprise, adding that as good as the precautionary lockdown was, sufficient arrangement must be made to feed the incarcerated.
Their concern for the elders and vulnerable in this trying period necessitated for their humanitarian service, Mr. Somefun added. He enjoined all residents of Akinale to cultivate the habit of continuous cleanliness dictated by the health hazards.
In a related event, the women society in Akinale, “Egbe Omolere” had t themselves with donations to procure bags of rice, beans and beverages which they have distributed to poor and needy in the community.
Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade Akinale expressed gratitude to the donors and enjoined other humanitarian bodies to come to the aid of the needy in this lockdown. Oba Ogunleye commended the government, particularly the Ogun State government for their proactive measures to contain the pandemic, save life and provide palliatives.
Oba Ogunleye took the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government to sympathise with ex staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways by paying the balance of their outstanding pension and disengagement entitlements so that they could have fund to cater for their dependents.
