…blames crisis on inexperienced politicians
Founding elders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are in discreet moves to reconcile the warring factions in Edo State to prevent the party from going under.
Founding national chairman of the party, chief Bisi Akande, told Newdawn that elders in the party have taken things for granted by staying away too early in the day. This situation he said has made inexperienced actors in the party who seems to lack what it takes to build a coherent leadership to drive it under.
Said he,”We the elders in the APC, therefore, seems to have stayed too far away from our younger colleagues in the leadership of the party”.
Chief Akande attributed the inexperience in managing the party to those at the helm adding that”any politician younger than ten years when the military first came to power in 1966 cannot properly grasp the true tenets of democracy because they must have imbibed the lawlessness and impunity nature of the military rule for too long and need constant review with and regular advice of the elders”.
The party’s first national leader who took blame for lack of information on the root causes of the APC crisis in Edo state, however said new interventions will be made by leaders across board to resolve the crisis once and for all.
Chief Akande said that though President Muhammadu was trained as a soldier, who has himself gone through “crucibles of the pangs and essence of democracy” in his many unsuccessful contest for power will have to be assisted to calm the ” storms in all places where there may be crisis in the party”.
He is optimistic that in spite of all its travails,”APC shall eventually win next governorship elections in Edo state”.
