Getting set for test-run of Lagos/Ibadan standard gauge rail

All hands are on deck for the commencement of the much publicised test run of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail as rail equipments and construction workers of the China civil engineering construction company(ccecc) were seen perfecting the solidification of the new rail tracks which has been separated from the old trail line hitherto used to carry commuters daily from Ijoko to Iddo but which suspension about a month ago has affected vehicular traffic in Lagos and environs.

Madam Suwebatu Asabi ,a fruit seller expressed her anxiety about the commencement of the free train ride adding that it will boost her trade in spite of the demolition which has temporarily dislocated her business. Elsewhere in the Agbado area other traders lined the route of the old rail line to sell their merchandise hitherto disrupted by the expansion of the rail line to accommodate the double lane new track.
For easy connection,the CCECC erected a wall to separate the old rail line which has over the years been used as a mass transit to ferry passengers from the hinterland to Lagos on a daily basis.
Also the construction of the main rail sub -station is still on while other structures are also in foundation stages to accommodate the increased activities which the new rail line is expected to generate.
It is not known as at the time of filling this report when d free train services to test run the Lagos-Ibadan segment is expected to commence.
Work is however,still on going at the Iju segment from where the test run is expected to commence.iju is about two kilometres to Agbado where the initial lunch of the rail was done early this year.
