Lagos task force confirms raiding Afrika Shrine area

The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation has confirmed that its operatives at the weekend raided all streets within the Central Business District Agidingbi, including surroundings of the ‘African Shrine’, Alausa, Ikeja thus confirming an earlier release by the management of the Shrine, that officials of the agency raided the area in search of street traders and hawkers and that the operatives did not venture into the Shrine.

In a twitter message the task force tweeted as follows.

“Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) over the weekend raided all streets within Central Business District including surroundings of the ‘African Shrine’, Alausa, Ikeja.

The management of the new Afrikan Shrine has dismissed the rumour that the officials of the Lagos State Task Force visited the club. on Thursday September 122019.
A statement by the management of the club, which was also widely  circulated in the social media reads in part,  “The attention of the management of the New Africa Shrine has been drawn to various reports about the Lagos State Task Force storming Shrine. This is not true.
“On 12/09/19 at approximately 8pm to 10pm, men of the Lagos StateTask Force were on the “Streets” of NAS outside shrine to clear those engaged in illegal street trading and noise pollution.
“This did not affect NAS itself.
“We would like to thank all our fans and the general public for reaching out. We are happy to say, the New Africa Shrine remains  a foremost tourist destination in Lagos -Nigeria. We are safe and remain open for business,” the statement concluded
