Ekiti State govt seals two illegal hospitals

Ekiti State Government has sealed two hospitals in Ado Ekiti for flouting the rules of medical practice in Nigeria.

The commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade who led the anti quackery team said the committee has discovered that there are some hospitals in Ekiti where quacks carry out caesarean section and eventually kill the patients.

She said the hospitals sealed are Divine Citadel hospital,Ajilosun and Adedamola hospital,Ajilosun,Ado Ekiti.

Yaya -Kolade reiterated that the hospitals were sealed about a month ago and the proprietors went behind the Ekiti state ministry of health and human services to remove the seal and started operating again.

“We found a lady who is not a nurse injecting a patient and a quack doctor carried out a caesarean section on a patient suffering from appendicitis. We found a speculum and a regular knife being used for operation in a very dirty environment. She said.

Ekiti health commissioner appreciated Dr. Kayode Fayemi and all members of the anti quackery team for ensuring that medical quackery is stamped out in Ekiti state.

She urged Ekiti residents to desist from patronizing the fake hospitals and said arrangement is on top gear to ensure that doctors display their certificate at the entrance of their hospitals to show their authenticity.

In an interview,the secretary of the landlord association of moferere community,Ajilosun,Ado Ekiti where the hospitals are situated Mr. Ajisola Alao appreciated the state government and the committee on their efforts and pleaded that efforts be intensified to save more lives from the quack doctors.

He said it is difficult for the residents of the area to know the quacks from the authentic doctors and promised that the association will be ready to cooperate with the Ekiti state government to expose the quack doctors.
