Though, he is yet to assume office as the deputy governor of Nigeria’s most viable state, story has it that there is a cold war between Mr. Obafemi Hamzat and Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the outgoing Lagos State governor.
A pointer to the cold war was the failure of the Governor Ambode to pay a courtesy visit to Hamzat, when he loss his father , Oba Olatunji Hamzat.
All leaders of APC in Lagos visited the family of late Oba Hamzat except the outgoing Governor of Lagos state.
Although, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Adebule, who was the first Lagos State government official to betray Ambode before the primary election in, which he (Abmbode) was denied a second term ticket and the Secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello visited the Late Oba Hamzat family, but not unbelief of Ambode.
It was gathered that both visited the family in their personal capacities not on behalf of state governor.
The family, however, in advertisement to appreciate those who stood with them during the death of late Oba Hamzat mentioned all leaders of APC in the state, but excluded Gov. Ambode in the advertisement.
Our correspondent also observed that there was no letter of condolence from Gov. Ambode when the late Oba Hamzat died to the family.
The decision of Ambode to ignore the late Hamzat ‘s family might not be unconnected with his failure to secure second term ticket.
