Senate on Tuesday directed its Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other financial Institutions to screen , Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
According to Senate, the Committee has one week to screen the CBN governor and report back to the Senate for further act
The CBN governor is expected to complete his first tenure on June 2, having being appointed on the same date in 2014 by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
President Muhammadu Buhari had reappointed Emefiele last week as Central Bank Governor.
At the Tuesday plenary, Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan moved motion for the consideration of President Buhari’s request on conformation of Emefiele and was seconded Deputy Minority Whip, Philip Adudua.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki consequently forwarded the letter to Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.
