While Christians in Nigeria prepare to join counterparts across the world to mark the Good Friday tomorrow, a tanker fire in Ibadan, Oyo State capital has claimed unconfirmed number of lives and properties.
The incident which occurred along sawmill area, Old Ife road happened Thursday afternoon.
The Federal Government earlier in the week declared Friday and Monday public holidays for the Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Nigerians across the country have since been traveling to various locations to mark the holidays.
Meanwhile, the tragedy has created panic in the area while affected families and businesses are in mourning mood.
Maundy Thursday is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
