The Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State has been gutted by fire.
A journalist this afternoon called New Dawn to report the incidence.
Cause of the fire is yet to be known as travellers took to their heels to escape the inferno.
An eye witness report said the fire affected the arrival section where renovation work was ongoing.
Meanwhile, another eye witness aid it took almost an hour before the arrival of fire men who are currently battling the fire.
“It happened at the arrival department of the airport where the authority was carrying out renovation work.
“It would have caused bigger havoc but for the arrival of men of the fire service.
“It started around 2:10 pm and raged for 50 minutes. It damaged equipment and infrastructure, but the rescue work assisted in savaging the situation,” the eye witness reported.
