Senate Presidency: Ndume faults imposition of Lawan by APC

Former Senate leader, Mohammed Ndume has kicked against imposition of Senator Ahmad Lawan as the sole candidate of the party for Senate President seat saying party’s position is against the constitution.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had on Monday night recommended the Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) for the position of Senate President in the ninth Assembly.

The recommendation was made during a meeting last night at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

However, Ndume while briefing newsmen kicked against the position of the party saying it is unconstitutional for the party to imposed someone on the Senators-elect without their contributions.

He warned the party leadership not yo repeat the mistake of 2015 again.
