The police in Edo State last night, scored a major breakthrough in investigating the bloody killings of police officers in Afuze, few days ago, by the arrest of eight6 out of the suspected killers that invaded Afuze to carry out the wanton destruction and killings.
Security sources revealed that trouble started for the police, when officers in Afuze arrested one of the gang members and detained him in their cell for a serious offense.
The suspect was said to contacted the leader of the gang, who came to plead and appeal to the DPO for bail and resolution of the matter, He was said to have offered some money for bail but the DPO turned it down and requested for the transfer of the case to the State CID in Benin for further investigation .
Infuriated with the refusal, the leader of the gang directed his men who were outside to unleash mayhem on the police station which led to the killings of many policemen on duty and the burning of their vehicles.
