Over 20 persons were reported killed in communal dispute in Bassa LGA, Oguma, early hours of Thursday.

The fracas that emanated between two neighboring ethnicity – Bassa Nkomu and the Ebira was said to be the aftermath clashes that occurred in January between the two communities, which led to the deaths and destruction of property in the community.

Our reporter revealed that scores of houses were also razed and some members of the community have started relocating to nearby communities.
However, the state commissioner of police, Hakeem Asiru, has given the assurance that the ugly trend would be brought to a permanent halt, as men of the police force have been sent to the community in their large number in order to quell the ugly trend once and for all.

It would be recalled that a similar occurrence happened early this year, when it was reported that the two communities had provoked each other’s ire over land dispute that led to the killings of over 100 persons, while several hundreds migrated to neighboring communities for safety.
