AD to Kashamu/PDP: Our candidate is in the race

The Alliance for Democracy AD in Ogun State has alerted that those who allegedly endorsed the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Buruji Kashamu on its behalf may have duped him of a large sum of money in the dubious ‘adoption’ saga.
The party said some people parading themselves as officers of Alliance for Democracy (AD), in Ogun State sold lies to the PDP candidate that they have prevailed on the governorship candidate of AD to withdraw from the race and support support him
New Dawn investigation revealed that an officer of the party who master minded the scam collected N5 million and bolted.


On hearing of the scam, the matter was said to have been reported to the police who have embarked on a manhunt for the official

Meanwhile, Police Detectives of the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran in Abeokuta are already investigating a similar matter involving the theft and sale of identity tags issued by INEC to AD Ogun State to candidates of a particular party in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters on the developments, the governorship Candidate of AD in Ogun State, Oluseyi Gavriel Olufade-Olowookere said: “The idea that we have withdrawn from the race and the theft of our INEC issued identity tags are gross mis-representation of facts on the ground and also Criminal acts. The party had lodge a complaint to the police and I know that the police are already investigating the two matters
“Said he, we will contest the State Assembly and governorship elections keenly. We have been engaging all stakeholders, and our members and candidates had been engaged in door to door Campaign since January. We are confident of winning because we are the only ones that had diligently canvassed issues and preferred solutions that are workable and sustainable.
“As for those that may have been duped, my counsel to them is to report them to police. Buying INEC issued identity cards and denying our agents opportunity to supervise election contravenes the electoral Act and the Criminal code.
