Presidential election: APC leads in 5 Yobe LGAs
The election collation centre in Damaturu, has received results of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections from five of the 17 LGAs of Yobe, putting the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the collation was being presided over by Prof. Abubakar Gundiri, Vice Chancellor, University of Wukari.
Presidential elections results from Gujba LGA showed that APC polled 12,227 votes, while PDP scored 325 votes.
In Tarmuwa LGA, APC scored 12,122 votes against PDP’s 1, 269.
In Damaturu LGA, APC scored 35,772 votes against PDP’s 2,099, while in Karasuwa LGA, APC polled 22,377 to beat PDP which had 3,692 votes.
In Machina LGA, the APC scored 14,619 votes to beat PDP, which had 2,315. (NAN)
Shina Peller wins Iseyin Federal Constituency seat
The Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Oluwashinaayomi Peller, the winner of the Iseyin/ Itesiwaju/ Iwajowa and Kajola Federal Constituency seat in Oyo State.
INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, who declared the result, said Peller polled a total of 44,088 votes to beat PDP’s Najeemdeen Oyedeji ,who polled 31,336.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate and federal lawmaker, Olasupo Abiodun, who was elected in 2015 on the platform of the APC, came third in the contest with 12,309 votes.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there was wild jubilation at the collation centre after the returning officer announced Peller as the winner.
NAN also reports that Peller is the son of the late popular magician, Prof. Peller.(NAN)
Buhari, Atiku share 2 LGAs in Benue
President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has scored 12,197 votes in Tarka Local Government Area to floor Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who had 4,875 votes.
Announcing the results on Sunday in Makurdi, the INEC Collation Officer for the election in Tarka local government area, Prof. Simon Ejembi, said the local government area had 10 registration areas with 50,180 total number of registered voters.
According to him, the total accredited voters were 18,749 while total number of valid votes were 17,424.
He said the total number of rejected votes stood at 1,089 and the total number of votes cast were 18,513.
Also announcing the result of the presidential poll for Ado Local Government Area, the collation officer, Prof Idugba Echi, said PDP polled 8,614 to defeat president Buhari of the APC.
He said APC polled 5,373, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled 689.
The collation officer said the local government council , which has 10 registration areas, had a total of 73,129 registered voters with 16,747 accredited voters, while 1,093 votes were rejected.
He explained that the total number of votes cast were 16,413.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the results of the presidential polls in 21 other local government councils were been awaited.
NAN also reports that of the 13 National Assembly seats in the state, non was declared by the electoral umpire. (NAN)
Ex Kaduna speaker loses Reps seat to first timer
Former Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Ahmed Hassan-Jumare, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for House of Representatives seat has lost to a first timer, Muktar Shehu-Ladan of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hassan-Jumare was Speaker of the state Assembly from 2013 to 2015.
Declaring the results in Makarfi, headquarters of Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Returning Officer, Prof. Tijjani Abubakar, declared that the APC got 59,495 votes while PDP scored 35,126 votes.
Abubakar said the total registered votes stood at 104,026, while 51,555 votes were recorded.
“I, Prof Tijjani Abubakar, the Returning Officer, Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency, the candidate of APC, Muktar Shehu Ladan having scored highest number of votes and satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner,” Abubakar declared.
Other results announced by the Returning Officer indicated that at the Senatorial election, APC got 61,847 votes and PDP had 32,183 votes, while in the Presidential election APC polled 67,181 votes against the PDP’s 26,191 votes. (NAN)
Commissioner wins House of Reps. seat in Kaduna
Mr Hamza Ibrahim, Kaduna State Commissioner for Water Resources, has won a seat in the House of Representatives to represent Soba Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing the results on Sunday at Maigana, headquarters of Soba LGA, the Returning Officer, Prof. Bashir Jumare of Faculty of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna, said that the Commissioner polled 33,981 votes.
He said that Khalid Ibrahim of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 14,382 votes, Prof. Shehu Adamu Usman of African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 9,778 votes while Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai of Social Democratic Party polled 8,333 votes.
The returning officer said that Ibrahim, having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied all requirements of the law, ‘is declared the winner’ to represent Soba at the House of Representatives.
He said that the election was peaceful and orderly, adding that there were no major challenges that could warrant cancellation of the result.
He lauded voters and all other stakeholders for showing understanding during and after the election. (NAN)
APC kicks as INEC announces results in Ebonyi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has began collation of the presidential results in the just concluded presidential election held across the country on Saturday.
The exercise began at the state collation centre, INEC headquarters in Abakaliki on Sunday.
Dr Ngele Okeke, the INEC Returning Officer (RO) for Afikpo South Local Government Area who announced the result said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a total of 6,391 votes while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 12,181 votes in the presidential election.
He said that a total of 72,343 voters were registered in the local government while 27,792 were accredited to vote.
Okeke said that a total of 19,735 voters participated in the presidential election in the local government area, adding that 19,193 valid votes were recorded with 541 rejected ballots.
He said that the result from Ameri ward was cancelled due to non compliance with Smart Card Reader.
“The result from Ameri ward with a total number of 6483 was cancelled due to non use of card reader for accreditation and voting”, he said.
Meanwhile, the APC has rejected the results of the presidential election in Afikpo South and Afikpo North Local Government Areas of Ebonyi.
The results from the two areas were announced by the collation officers from the two local government areas at the state collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters.
Chief Eze Nwachukwu, state party agent of the APC, who made this known on Sunday in Abakaliki alleged widespread irregularities in the results.
He disclosed that the party in the state would contest the outcome of polls in the two areas.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the PDP and other political parties have not made any official reaction on the outcome of the polls.
The commission also announced result of the presidential election from Ivo and Ohaozara Local Government Areas.
In Ivo, PDP won with 12,471 votes while APC got 1,945 ballot in a result announced by Dr Godwin Okonkwo, the collation officer of the LGA.
In Ohaozara Local Government Area, Dr Robert Obiyo, INEC collation officer for Ohaozara, announced PDP as winner of the presidential poll in the area having polled a total of 33,651 votes while APC has 2,058 votes.

PDP sweeps National Assembly polls in Awgu, Enugu
The Enugu Chapter of the All progressive Congress (APC) has called for the cancellation of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
The State Chairman of the party, Dr Ben. Nwoye, who made the call at a news conference on Sunday in Enugu said that the purported election on Saturday was an aberration.
He said that there were fake INEC ad hoc staff attached to all the polling units in the state to direct unenlightened voters to thumbprint and vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The chairman said that thugs were also employed in most of the voting points to intimidate and harass the electorate who wished to cast their vote for APC candidates.
“Corp members who were also posted to the various polling units received inducement from PDP to compromise their duties in the election.
“In some cases they dressed members of the PDP with national Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform but they were fake and were allow to work in various voting points.
“There were also vote buying by PDP members in almost every polling unit and voting points, adding that these were supervised by the police; in addition to vote buying, PDP prepared meals to induce the voters.
“PDP have prepared fake result sheet masterminded by the INEC SPO’o who were used by the IPO’s to shut out APC and other political parties,” Nwoye alleged.
“Majority of our agents at polling stations were denied copies of result sheets allegedly selected by the compromised collecting officers for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“The results allegedly collected by the compromised collaction officers at the wards were higher than the number of accredited voters in the card readers.
“The Divisional Police Officers in the respective polling units allowed the PDP thugs to manipulate majority of the polling units and voting points.”
He claimed that the DPOs had been on the payroll of the various local government area, adding that collation were done at the office of the chairman of the respective council areas.
“State government vehicles were used to convey INEC materials to the various collation centres,” he said.
Nwoye said that INEC in Enugu State simply fooled Enugu voters, adding that they did not deploy the claimed technology in Enugu.
He alleged that INEC systematically excluded independent members of the public from participating as ad-hoc staff and employed PDP card caring members to work as ad-hoc staff in various units.
He also called on the Inspector-General of Police to send his team so that the perpetrators would be arrested and prosecuted for the crime. (NAN)
INEC declares Olatunbosun winner of Saki federal constituency seat
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Olajide Olatunbosun, as the winner of the Saki West, East and Atisbo Federal Constituency seat.
Olatunbosun, who currently occupies the position, was initially elected under the same party in 2015.
Announcing the result on Sunday, INEC’s returning officer for the Federal Constituency, Prof. Niyi Togun, disclosed that the APC candidate polled 27,115 to beat PDP’s Adeagbo Fasasi, who polled 24,139.
The candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the current Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Musah Abdulwasi, polled 10,314 to come third. (NAN)
INEC declares APC candidate winner of Iwo Federal constituency in Osun
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr Amobi Akintola, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of Iwo/Ayedire/ Ola-Oluwa Federal constituency of Osun in the Saturday’s National Assembly election.
Prof. Rufus Adesoji, who is the returning officer, said Amobi scored 29,229 votes.
Adesoji said that Mr Mudasir Lukman, the Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 21,608 votes.
He said the candidate of African Democratic Party (ADP) Adiat Olaposi came third with 17,624 votes.(NAN)
INEC declares APC winner in Lagos East senatorial district
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner for all the contested positions in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos East senatorial district.
Dr Aaron Akinloye, the INEC Returning Officer for the Feb. 23 House of Representatives poll for Epe Federal Constituency, Lagos State, declared the result on Sunday at INEC’s collation centre in Epe.
According to him, Mr Wale Raji of APC, who represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, was returned as winner.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that with the result Raji has won his second term bid.
According to Akinloye, the APC candidate polled 18,327 votes to beat his closest PDP rival who got 13,318 votes.
Others were APP 61 votes, ADC 42 votes and AD 49 out of the 32,415 total votes cast.
In the same vein, Dr Adelaja Odukoya, the INEC Collation Officer, who announced the result for the Senatorial polls declared that APC candidate won with 18,713 votes against PDP’s flag bearer who got 13,075 votes, and ADP 102 votes.
Mr Bayo Osinowo is the senatorial candidate of APC, while Mr Abiodun Oyefusi is the candidate of the PDP in Lagos East.
Similarly, results for the Presidential candidates showed that the APC defeated PDP by polling 17,710 votes against 13,305.
Osinowo also announced that AAC scored 54 votes while ADC got 38 votes out of the 33,905 total votes cast in the election. (NAN)
APC wins in Kano, Yobe LGs
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has defeated People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday Presidential and National Assembly election in Madobi local government area of Kano state.
NAN reports that Madobi is the local government area of Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial zone.
Dr Sani Umar, the returning officer for the local government, made the announcement on Sunday at Madobi.
He said that the APC Presidential candidate secured 26,110 to defeat PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar who got 13,113 votes.
Similarly, Prof. Mansir Umar-Bindawa, the returning officer who announced the National Assembly elections result, said the APC candidate for Kano Central Senatorial candidate, secured 22,731 while PDP Senatorial candidate got 15,524 votes in the local government.
According to Umar-Bindawa, the APC House of Representatives candidate defeated his PDP counterpart with 22,100 votes as against 15,925 votes.
Similarly, INEC has declared the APC Presidential candidate as winner of Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
INEC returning officer, Dr Mohammed Murtala, who announced the result, said Buhari scored 19,984 to defeat Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who polled 7,732 votes.
Murtala also announced APC as winner of the Kano North Senatorial zone with 16,794 votes as against PDP’s 10,746 and PRP’s 397 votes.
The returning officer for the Presidential election in Garin Malam Local Government Area, Prof. Dahiru Sani-Shuaibu, said APC scored 23,810 against PDP’s 4,861 votes.
Dr Umar Abbas, the returning officer for the Senate in Garin Malam Local Government, said APC’s Senatorial candidate for Kano South Senatorial zone scored 18,412 while PDP candidate scored 8,548 votes.
Abbas also declared APC House of Representatives’ candidate after polling 18, 029 to defeat PDP’s candidate who scored 8,262 votes.
In Yobe, the APC scored 12,227 votes against PDP’s 325 votes in the presidential election in Gujba local government area of the state.
Dr Madu Gadaka, Collation Officer of the local government while presenting the election results on Sunday, said a total of 13,526 votes were cast, out of which APC garnered 12,227 and PDP scored 325 while 635 votes were rejected.
Prof. Abubakar Gundiri, Presidential collation officer in Yobe, asked agents of the parties if their records tally with the submission made by local government collation officer.
Dr Zaji Bunu, APC agent and Dr Abdu Bulama of PDP both agreed with the figures submitted as true copy of the election results. (NAN)
PDP guber candidate loses LG to APC in Kwara
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara, Razak Atunwa, has failed to deliver his Asa Local Government Area in Saturday’s senatorial election.
In the election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled a total of 15, 932 votes to defeat PDP which scored 11, 252 votes
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Atunwa, an indigene of Efue, is a member of the House of Representatives representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency.
The result of the election was announced by the Returning Officer for Asa Local Government, Prof. Emmanuel Sanya, at the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ilorin on Sunday.
APC also won in 12 out of the 17 wards in Asa while PDP won in five wards.
The Returning Officer said a total of 73, 425 voters were registered in the local government, while 29, 027 voters were accredited for the election.
Sanya said out of the 28, 815 votes cast, 27, 850 were valid with 956 votes rejected. (NAN)
Collation of results commence in Maiduguri
Collation of results is in progress in Maiduguri in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the collation was being conducted at the Independent National Election (INEC) office in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
NAN reports that the exercise, presided over by INEC officials in the presence of party agents, election observers and journalists, was going smoothly.
Dr Usman Gadzama, the Returning Officer, Borno Central Senatorial District, said they have concluded collation in four of the 15 wards in the Maiduguri local government area.
Gadzama said that result from the remaining council areas were still coming in, adding that the exercise was being conducted simultaneously for the presidential and national assembly elections.
Also, Malam Adam Kasim, a Domestic Election Observer, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the collation exercise.
Kasim explained that the collation commenced on Sunday morning due to the security situation in the state.
“The collation of results was delayed until Sunday morning due to some security challenges, and the exercise is going on smoothly,’’ he said.
Kasim also expressed satisfaction with the high voter turnout and the peaceful conduct of the election in the state.
NAN reports that election results from far distant areas were coming in and collated at the Maiduguri centre in the Maduganari area of the metropolis.
Similar collation exercises were also ongoing for the presidential, the Senate and House of Representatives elections at Jere, Monguno, Bama, and other centres in the state.
Collation of results for the presidential election was expected to commence later in the day at the Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri. (NAN)
APC sweeps polls in Kebbi units
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun announcing the results of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in polling units in Birnin Kebbi metropolis.
The Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, scored 385 and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 102 votes at GRA Gulma ward 007,
In the Senatorial election, Sen. Adamu Aleiro of APC got 293 while Abubakar Shehu of PDP got 202.
Also in the House of Representatives, Muhammadu Bello of APC has 363 while Abba Haliru of PDP got 130.
The Presiding officer Kazeem Abiola, announced that the invalid votes were 28 for president, 23 for senate and 22 for house of representatives.
In another polling unit 06 in Birnin Kebbi, President Buhari scored 420 while Atiku Abubakar scored 102.
In the senate, APC got 314 while PDP got 208.
Also in the house of representatives, APC has 385 while PDP has 136.
The Presiding Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, who announced the results, said the invalid votes recorded for presidential election were 41, the senate 39 while the house of representatives recorded 384.

The results of the counted and collated votes in the unit 001, Central Primary School shows that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cleared the polls in this unit.

Elections: PDP leads in Tunga-Maje Quarters Ward in FCT
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Tunga-Maje Quarters Ward and some other polling units in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
At the Tunga-Maje polling unit, Mr Vincent David, the Presiding Officer, said for the presidential election, PDP scored 1,240 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 830 votes.
The presiding officer also announced that the senatorial candidate of PDP secured 930 votes as against 500 votes scored by the APC candidate.
The PDP House of Representatives candidate scored 1,100 votes, while the
APC candidate scored 600 votes.
Similarly, Mr Abila Kaka, the Presiding Officer at Quarters Ward in Gwagwalada, announced that PDP scored 860 votes in the presidential election election, while APC got 500 votes.
He also announced that the senatorial candidate of the PDP polled 890 votes while that of APC got 400 votes.
The House of Representatives candidate of the PDP polled 700 votes while that of the APC scored 300 votes.
The Presiding Officer at Dagiri Venus Road, Mr Friday Gata, announced that the PDP presidential candidate polled 1,200 votes while that of APC got 800 votes.
He said that the senatorial candidate of PDP got 730 votes, while APC polled 470 votes; the House of Representatives candidate for PDP scored 682 votes while his APC counterpart polled 350 votes.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that collation of results is still ongoing at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Gwagwalada.
At about 9:25 a.m. INEC officials and ad-hoc staff were seen coming from various electoral wards and polling centres with results for collation.
NAN reports that there is high presence of security agents comprising the Department of State Services, (DSS), The Police, Immigration and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the office. (NAN)
Buhari leads in Alagomeji, Lagos
President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC has won Saturday’s presidential election in Ward 09, Alagomeji on Lagos Mainland LGA, Lagos State, polling 1, 781 votes to beat PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, who got 1,083 votes.
The result is contained in INEC’s Publication of Result of Poll for the Presidential Election in the ward.
The publication was signed by Dr Adesola Afuye, the Collation Officer for the ward.
According to the publication, the other political parties which participated in the election got less than 50 votes each.
While the presidential candidates of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) polled 46 votes, that of the African Action Congress (AAC) scored 40 votes, and the Young Progressive Party (YPP) polled 41 votes.
Other political parties got less than 10 votes each.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that collation of results was still ongoing in other wards of the federal constituency – Lagos Mainland – as at 08:10am.
NAN reports that 73 presidential candidates participated in election in the ward.
The results of National Assembly elections in ward had yet to be announced as at the time of this report.
Meanwhile, the final collation of results from the 20 local government areas Lagos State, expected to hold at the INEC Office, Birrel Avenue, Yaba, had yet to start as at 8:00a.m. on Sunday. (NAN)
PDP wins Orokere Ward 06 in Mopamuro LGA, Kogi
The Peoples Democratic Party won Ward 6 at Orekere-Amuro in Mopamuro LGA of Kogi state , according to the interim result announced by the collation Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday night.
Mr Ojeboboh Opeyemi, the INEC Collation Officer of Orokere ward 06, announced the results at the collation centre, YLGEA School 11, Orokere Amuro on Saturday.
According to Opeyemi, the PDP presidential candidate won 760 votes, while his APC rival got 447 votes and ADC 53 votes, out of the 1291 valid votes cast.
There were 128 rejected votes, making total votes cast to be 1419.
In the senate election, the PDP also beat APC, winning 690 votes. The APC got 469 votes and ADC 141 votes.
According to Opeyemi, 1322 votes were valid out of the 1417 total votes cast. Ninety five votes were rejected.
However, the result in the ward for Yagba Federal House of Representatives showed the APC candidate beating the PDP rival, by polling 465 votes. PDP got 326 votes while ADC came second with 455 votes. Of the 1418 votes cast in the election, 138 were rejected, while 1280 were accepted as valid.
NAN reports that Mr Dino Melaye is the senatorial candidate of PDP, while Mr Smart Adeyemi is the candidate of the APC in Kogi West.
NAN reports that the collation of results at local government level is still ongoing at INEC office in Mopamuro LGA.

As voting was concluded on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led in various polling units in Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi and in other areas.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents who visited polling units, reports that PDP candidates in the Presidential, Senatorial and House of Assembly candidates led in the areas.
At unit 020C Polling Unit in Nyanya, PDP had 12 votes ,while PCP got one in the presidential election with number of registered voters put at 46, accredited voters, 46, unused ballot, 23, invalid votes, 13.
Also, at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Nyanya EC 30A and 020B Polling Units, PDP won the presidential election with 25 votes, APC 2, and ANDP 1; number of registered voters, 124.
For the senatorial votes, PDP won with 23, APC 3 and LP 1 with number of registered voters at 124.
At FHA Nyanya EC 30A and 020A Polling Units, PDP also won the presidential election with 84, APC 28 and PCP 1 with registered voters, 386.
PDP also won the senatorial elections with 89 votes, APC 28, others are 7 with registered voters – 386.
Similarly, at the Polling Unit 011, Nyanya Primary School, PDP tops in the House of Representatives elections with 412 votes, APC-67 and others 43 and invalid ballot papers- 16.
The story is the same in the presidential poll with PDP leading with 438 votes, APC 61, others 22 and 15 invalid votes.
For the senatorial elections, PDP leads with 425 votes, APC 68, others are 36 and 10 invalid votes.
At the Polling Unit 001, Orozo Primary school PDP clinched 1,375 votes and APC 308 votes in the presidential elections.
At the Kugbo Primary School EC 30A 009A Polling Unit 1, for House of Rep. results: PDP is leading with 158 votes, APC I29, others 10 and 5 Invalid votes.
PDP also won the senatorial elections with 164 votes, APC 28, others 7 and 6 Invalid votes, while in the presidential elections, PDP won with 161 votes, APC 26, others 7 and 7 invalid votes.
Also, at the polling unit 009A in Kugbo, PDP won the presidential election with 483 votes and APC 84.
At the Jikwoyi primary school polling center 007 unit, PDP led with 145 and APC 29 in the presidential elections while at 005 polling unit, PDP won with130 and APC with 25.
At the 006 polling unit also in Jikwoyi primary school, PDP led the presidential elections with 89 and APC 15, and at the 001 polling unit, PDP won with 159 and APC 6.
As at the time of filing this report, elections were yet to the concluded at the Karu and Karshi polling units. (NAN)
PDP leads on Airport Road, Abuja
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday led in the Presidential and National Assembly elections in many polling units on Airport Road, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that sorting and counting of votes at some of the polling units lasted until 4.30a.m. on Sunday.
At Pyakasa Unit, Mr Sadiqu Abdulrazak, the Presiding Officer, said that Mr Atiku Abubakar of PDP scored 1,205 votes while the President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 173 votes.
Abdulrazak also announced that the senatorial candidate of PDP secured 913 votes against 444 votes got by the APC candidate.
The PDP House of Representative candidate won with the total of 1,102 votes against the APC candidate who scored 240 votes.
Similarly, Mr Adetokunbo Semi, the Presiding Officer at Lugbe Market, FCT, Polling Unit 010, announced that Atiku scored 368 votes while Buhari got 135 votes.
He also announced that the senatorial candidate of PDP polled 350 votes while that of APC got 107 votes, adding that the House of Representative candidate of the PDP won with 351 votes while that of APC scored 130 votes.
The Presiding Officer at Gidan Mangoro Chief Palace Ward 008 Lugbe, Mr Hilarry Seifegha, announced that the PDP presidential candidate polled 699 votes while that of APC got 334 votes.
He said that the senatorial candidate for PDP got 699 votes, while APC polled 363 votes, and that the House of Representative’s candidate for PDP won with 672 while his APC counterpart polled 333 votes.
At the Polling Unit 008A, located at the King of Kings Academy, PDP’s presidential candidate polled 548 votes while the APC candidate got 164; senatorial candidate for PDP got 699, while that of APC got 363, and House of Representative’s candidate for PDP won with 506 votes while that of APC polled 275.
At Kuchingoro Polling Unit 020, PDP presidential candidate scored 704 votes while that of APC candidate got 319 votes.
The PDP senatorial candidate got 609 votes from the unit while that of APC secured 350 votes.
The PDP House of Representative’s candidate won with 687 votes while that of APC polled 350 votes.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, however, led in Karamajiji Polling Unit 018 with 664 votes, leaving his PDP counterpart with 471 votes.
The senatorial candidate for APC secured 675 votes from the unit to beat the PDP candidate who polled 490 votes, while the APC candidate for the House of Representatives won with 658 votes against his PDP counterpart’s 471 votes. (NAN)
Melaye floors Adeyemi in Mopamuro LGA, Kogi
Mr Dino Melaye, a senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the highest votes in Mopamuro Local Government Area, Kogi west senatorial zone.
Melaye is seeking reelection for the second term into the red chamber of the national assembly, with his toughest rival, Mr Smart Adeyemi of the APC.
Mr Ibrahim Ismaila, the INEC Collation Officer of Mopamuro LGA, announced the interim results at the collation centre in INEC LG office in Mopa at about 3: 20 a.m on Sunday.
According to Ismaila, the PDP senatorial candidate, Melaye won 5112 votes, while his closest rival Smart Adeyemi of APC got 3658 votes, ADC 784 and SDP 26 votes out of the 9717 valid votes cast.
There were 336 rejected votes, making total votes cast to be 10055.
In the House of Representatives, the PDP also beat APC with 3703 votes.
The APC got 3157 votes and ADC 2 609 votes.
A total of 10042 votes were cast while 9704 votes were valid while 338 votes were rejected.
In the presidential election, the PDP scored 5336 votes to the APC’s 3646.
He added that out of 10055 votes cast in the election, 336 were rejected while 9507 were accepted as valid.

Kaduna deputy governor loses ward to PDP
Mr Barnabas Bantex, Kaduna State Deputy Governor contesting for Kaduna South Senatorial seat under the All Progressive Congress (APC), has lost his Registration Area, Manchok, to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Announcing the result around on Sunday in Manchok, INEC Collation Officer, Mr Yusuf Emmanuel, said that the incumbent, Sen. Danjuma La’ah, polled 2,301 votes to defeat Bantex who got 2,113 votes.
NAN reports this is even as Bantex won his Polling Unit with 227 votes over La’ah who got only 15 votes.
In the Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP also won with 2,991 votes, while President Muhammadu Buhari APC got 1,443.
The PDP also won the House of Representatives seat with 2,056 votes over APC who got 1,641 votes, UPN 243 votes, PRP 191 votes and SDP 50 votes. (NAN)
