A group, Buhari-Osinbajo consolidation movement has finalised plans to mobilise support for President Mohammed Buhari for a second term in the next year presidential election.
In a statement by its convener and former chairman of Oyo State chapter of the Association of local government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Demola Ojo, he said the group is made up of former local government chairmen, councillors, civil servants and other core professionals are drawn largely from the South-West geopolitical zone of the country.
He explained that the group has come together to ensure that President Buhari is accorded the opportunity to consolidate on the achievements of his administration in his first four years as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He pointed out that that the group plan to draw support from the grass root for Buhari relying on the closeness of its members to people in the electoral wards and local government areas of the country.
He said further that as former councilors and chairmen of the last tiers of government, members of the group enjoys unfiltered access to people at the grassroots, therefore, the group will use the opportunity to prevail on the people to see reasons why the country need President Buhari for a second term.
“We have seen the achievements of the present administration in strategic sectors of the economy. President Buhari has done creditably well in the fight against corruption, construction and reconstruction of major roads and railway lines across the country. Giving more time, he will consolidate on those achievements and that is why we are mobilizing support for his second term in office”, he said.
He said further that prominent politicians from the south-west are also involved in the mobilisation agenda. The group according to him will be officially unveiled to the people at a rally that will hold at its headquarter situated at Olulonyo house, Malete, Ibadan. Other prominent members of the group include Wole Farinu and Gbenga Akinrinade who are saddled with mobilization and logistic responsibilities of the group.
