Senate on Thursday called on the Nigerian Police to quickly vacate the premises of Akwa-Ibom state house of Assembly with immediate effect.
Senator Akpan Bassey had raised an alarm on Wednesday over the invasion of Akwa-Ibom state house of Assembly by Nigeria Police.
Senate therefore mandated its Committee on Police to investigate the allegation and submit its report within 48 hours.
But the matter still remain same as Senator Basset Akpan came on another point of order on the matter saying Akwa-Ibom house of Assembly is still under siege by Police with the intention of impeaching Speaker of the House and the Governor of the state.
Senator Akpan who became emotional about the matter on the floor of the Senate disclosed that five members of the Assembly are going on with the prices of impeachment of the Speaker and the Governor.
Other lawmakers who spoke on the matter followed the party line and when the voice votes was put the voice of those against the vacation order are more than those in support, but the Senate President ruled in the favour of minority .
