The Lagos State police command has invited and interrogated Mrs. Bademosi, wife of the chairman of Credit Switch limited and Lotin of Ondo Kingdom, Chief Ope Bademosi, who was gruesomely murdered at his home in highbrow Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos State on October 31.

Mrs. Bademosi was invited to write her own statement after the chef, Sunday Anani, the prime suspect in the murder case, was arrested last Friday. On the fateful day of the incident, Mrs. Bademosi had gone to the bank in the morning to carry out some transactions and returned home to find her husband in the pool of his blood.

The Togolese cook who was employed three days before the incident disappeared immediately the incident happened. He was later arrested in his hideout in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

In a video that went viral, the cook alleged that assassins killed the chief. The case has since been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, where Mrs. Bademosi made her statement.

The Lagos State police command spokesman, Chike Oti, said he was not aware of any invitation extended to the wife of the slain businessman, but senior police officer at the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba, told The Guardian that the cook suspected to have masterminded the killing was still being grilled for more information.

Meanwhile, the deceased family yesterday dismissed insinuations going viral on social media about the deceased. In a statement signed by the deceased sister, Fiyinfoluwa Bademosi, the family expressed shock that at a time when they are yet to grapple with the gruesome murder the late chief, they are “inundated with statements and insinuations in the social media from frivolous individuals who have no business in representing the family on this matter.

“The family appreciates the genuine condolences and prayers from all and sundry; as we mourn the departure of a great man, business icon, community leader and a loving family man. I use this opportunity to appeal to all our friends, associates and the public in general to please disregard any statements from any quarters other than from the immediate family, which I solely represent and solicit for your continued prayers and well wishes.

The family is united and the comfort of the Lord is our strength, in due time the obsequies will be made public, meanwhile we are awaiting the conclusion of police investigations,” she said.
