Fresh defections: PDP, APC lose one House of Rep member each

African Democratic Congress (ADC), has got a new member in the House of Representatives, it has been revealed. He is Honourable Hassan Omale representing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State.
Omale, representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency, today announced to his colleagues he has left the opposition PDP for the ADC.
“I wish to inform the Speaker and the entire members of the House that I have resigned from PDP to African Democratic Congress (ADC) with effect from October 17, 2018,” he said.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara read the letter transmitted by Omale at the plenary session of the assembly in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
In the same vein, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), lost a member to yet to be announced party. Hon. Muhammad Soba from Kaduna State also announced his defection although he is yet to unveil his new found party.
Dogara however cited relevant sections of the constitution that justify the actions of the defecting members of the House of Representatives.
Soba according to Dogara has attributed his defection to injustice he allegedly suffered during the party’s recent primary election.
The two members of the House of Representatives announced their defections after thorough consultations before transmitting their letters to the Speaker according to the constitution’s provisions.
