FALSE reports of alleged swapping of the name of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC), Governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun with that of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s preferred choice, Hon. Abdulkabiir Abiodun Akinlade dominated the political space weekend
prompting the campaign organization of the candidate to issue rebuttals at least twice.
The reports Sunday morning however took another wilder dimension with a report by a website Savannah Reporters alleging again the substitution amongst various other claims.
The Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organisation however in a swift reaction not only described the report as fictitious but also called the website a pseudo one.
The release signed the Media Director, Emmanuel Ojo not only put a lie to the report but also described the report as wishful thinking that can best be described as figment of imagination of the authors.
Ojo said “A winner has emerged and he has been duly recognized by the NWC and other appropriate authorities of our party at the National
level.
“Prince Dapo Abiodun stands as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State and nothing has changed. He is the authentic and legally recognized candidate having pooled the highest number of votes at the end of the governorship primary election.
“Just this morning, our attention was drawn to yet another fictitious story on a pseudo website named Savanah Reporters. This is a misleading report as there are NO immediate or long term plans by the national body to substitute or replace Prince Dapo Abiodun’s name with that of Hon Akinlade, and subsequently declare him as the winner tomorrow, 15th of October, 2018. This is a wishful thinking and can best be described as a figment of imagination of those sponsoring such falsehood.
“We have gone beyond a level where our party members and the general public will be easily deluded by any form of falsehood aimed at achieving a selfish ulterior motive.
“The general public should kindly disregard this rumor which is deliberately targeted towards causing unnecessary confusion and panic within the polity. Prince Dapo Abiodun is our validly elected gubernatorial candidate in Ogun APC and nothing can change this fact.”
