President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate release of N20billion for the revitalisation of public universities in line with demands of the Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU).
Zainab Ahmed, acting minister of finance, disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday.
Ahmed said the fund would be released to the beneficiary universities in line with the established criteria used by Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).
She added that federal government had also approved the release of N22.6 billion for the payment of retirement benefits to former workers of liquidated Nigerian Airways Ltd.
