Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, is expected to declare open the 2nd Lagos Summer School in Digital Humanities (LSSDH-2018) under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, FAS, on Tuesday 2nd October, 2018 at the University of Lagos, Akoka.
According to a press statement released by the convener, Professor Tunde Opeibi, a former SSA to Lagos State Governor, the maiden edition in 2017 was inaugurated by the Governor.
The Lagos Summer School in Digital Humanities, a pioneering initiative in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa is a multidisciplinary forum organised to raise, train and equip a new generation of scholars that will drive innovation and contribute to the quest for smart cities and knowledge-based society.
The 2018 edition has drawn seasoned and experienced international speakers and facilitators from Germany, Canada and the USA.
Participants from Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo as well as from several institutions in Nigeria will attend the 1-week intensive technology-driven workshops.
The Summer School in Digital Humanities is organised by the Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos and the Institute for Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Germany and is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, Germany.
A publication written in honour of Governor Ambode by Professor Tunde Opeibi, the Convener, will be unveiled during the opening ceremony.
