Announcing the results earlier this afternoon, Prof. Adeola Fuwape INEC’s Returning Officer, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had 254,698, the closest opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), had 254,345 votes, while Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled 128,049 votes to place a distant third.
However, Afuwape said that since the difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes, no winner had emerged.

“Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it is not possible to declare any party as winner and hereby declares the elections inconclusive”, he said.
He implored party agents to wait for a few minutes to get the date for a rerun between the two leading candidates.
