AS all appear set for Saturday’s governorship polls in Osun State with the leading political parties having held their grand rallies, the Nigerian Police Force may have thrown spanner into the ambition of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with its decision to file criminal charges against its candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The charges against the Senator include examination malpractice, aiding and abetting, impersonation and criminal conspiracy.
The School Principal of Ojo-Aro Community High School in Egbedore Local Government of Area of Osun State and three others are also to be arraigned for what the police describe as conspiracy with the senator.
Police Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood told newsmen that investigations revealed that Senator Adeleke and his brother Sikiru Adeleke registered and sat for the National Examination Council Examination [NECO] 2017 as internal candidates impersonating students of the school at the ages of 57 and 42 years respectively The FPPRO explained further that both Senator Adeleke and his brother Sikiru’s pictures were captured in the school’s photo book of 2017 but that no NECO seal was found on their pictures unlike the rest of the students.
Senator Adeleke’s PDP had only a day ago organized a grand rally drawing a mammoth crowd with the popular musician and nephew of the Senator, David Adeleke, who is popularly known as Davido .
Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari at the Grand rally of his party, All Progressive Congress APC called on the electorate to vote for its Governorship candidate, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola to ensure that the state remained an APC state.
The President at the rally held at the Osogbo City Stadium tasked the electorate to prevent corrupt politicians from coming to power in the state and lauded Governor Rauf Aregbesola which for his performance during his eight year tenure.
Buhari described the governorship candidate of the party as the right man for the job while urging the electorate to vote Oyetola in order to continue with the development witnessed under the Aregbesola’s administration
He said “Today, we are here to celebrate the past. On Saturday, your love and friendliness are clear for us to see. Some years ago, I was here with so many of you to get support for Governor Aregbesola for a second term and also in 2015 for Presidential Campaign.
