The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC), has summoned an emergency extended Executive Meeting for tomorrow in Abeokuta the state capital.
The meeting our reporter reliably gathered is to revert the indirect primary instead of the Direct Primaries option.
Besides, the enlarged meeting it was gathered this time around is to involve State Working Committee members and former Deputy Governors, former and current serving National Assembly members and the Chairmen of the party at the Local Government and Local council Development Areas .
It is scheduled to start by 11am .
Newdawnngr.com learnt that the meeting became imperative after the National Working Committee of the party declined to accept a consensus list earlier drawn up by Governor Ibikunle Amosun about two weeks ago and which has further divided the party.
The source said, “the meeting is to change earlier resolution and adopt indirect primary for the coming primaries. Some people are already panicking over the Direct Primary which they cannot predict the outcome, so they want the Indirect when the delegates can either be bought or intimidated.

“The sudden meeting called for tomorrow is to reverse the resolution earlier reached by the full house to adopt consensus and where it fails, to direct primaries. When security reports ere made available in the last few weeks on the chances of the imposed consensus list, there is desperation to try and reverse the earlier resolution”.
Invitation for the meeting reads…
“Dear sir/Ma, I have the pleasure on behalf of the State Chairman Chief Derin Adebiyi to invite you to the State Executive meeting of our great party [APC] on Thursday 20th September by 11am at the Mitros Garden and Hotels [Gateway Annex] GRA, Abeokuta”.
It will be recalled that the NWC of the party in rejecting the consensus list said that a minimum of three persons for each elective post had paid and collected forms and this automatically that meant there was no consensus reached.
The NWC referred Gov. Amosun to its statement that where any other aspirant signifies interest through purchase of its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for any position in question, there shall be primaries
The party had in its statement referred to said
“The attention of the APC has been drawn to announcements of consensus candidates for elective positions in some states, it is therefore, pertinent to make some clarifications to enlighten party faithful on the procedure for nominating candidates.
“While consensus is provided for by the party’s constitution, the option is conditional.
“Consensus does not foreclose Direct or Indirect Primaries for all elective positions as contained in the resolution of the 6th Meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
