After a very entertaining first half, MFM FC Captain, Akani Elijah’s 52nd minute class act goal won his side the maximum points against  visiting Nasarawa United FC in their NPFL Match Day 13 encounter at the Agege Stadium on Monday evening.
But to the Coach Bala Nikyu of Nasarawa United,  his side was just unlucky, describing MFM performance as not fantastic.
“We can only say we didn’t play well because we lost the game. It was just a matter of ill luck for our team. MFM didn’t overwhelm us but they managed to produce a goal and that is the game.”
After spraying various un-utilised passes in the first half of the game, Akani went for a solo effort along the box line and his shot caught goalkeeper Danlami Umar puzzled as the ball wound into the net to end the game at 1-0.
MFM Caretaker Coach, Olalekan Gabriel was overjoyed with the result which brings his tally to seven points from three games as it offers the possibility of being retained as substantive coach.
“As it is, we are good to go but the decision on my appointment rests with the management”, he told NPFL.com after the match.
MFM will proceed to Jos to play against Plateau United and Olalekan says they target to pick at least a point in Jos.
