Her name is Adenike Okunrinmeta. (She insists that she doesn’t want ‘Dr.’ included in her name). She’s the founder of the Youth Care Project, which runs the Clinic At Your Doorstep Initiative, and which is supported by The Global Fund. Having trained many years ago(1999) in the UK as a community care specialist, she came on to later start this non-profit/non-political organization 16years ago. Her non-profit community health work has seen her visiting and peddling impact to more than 35 African countries.

Abatan and Okurinmeta

Through this community health initiative, they offer free primary medical care to people in under-served communities. What stands out is that they give free drugs to every patient they attend to, and they issue patient cards with which patients can access primary medical care with them for a lifetime, no matter the community they are in in the world.

She was in our community with her team on one of the runs of this ‘Clinic At Your Doorstep’ initiative and I could see the fierce passion in her spirit. During our gist, we affirmed that since the government hasn’t been great in their community health responsibilities, we citizens must try our best to help ourselves in any way possible.

At the end of our gist, she gifted me some anti-malaria drugs amd tonic😄. I didn’t see that coming.

Now, more than ever, our world, this third world, is in dire need of responsible models and agents who will drive meaning, impact, focus and difference. Dr Adenike Okunrinmeta is one of such epic agents.
