Finally,Okonjo-Iweala makes history, emerges DG of World Trade Organization

History was made Monday as Nigeria’s candidate for the World Trade Organization position of Director General ,Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been confirmed.

Her appointment was confirmed Monday afternoon.
By this appointment she becomes The first Black woman to head the organization .

In a message by the organization this afternoon, WTO said “BREAKING: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Nigeria is appointed as the next WTO Director-General.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala makes history as the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO.

Her term starts on the 1st of March 2021.
