For fans of Warri Wolves, it was simply the unthinkable, but visiting Nasarawa United pulled it off, going from a goal down to grab maximum points in a 2-1 victory over their hosts.

Wolves opened scoring with Uche Ihuarulam nodding in Jumbo Wisdom’s tailored cross but things turned after the break with Silas Nwankwo’s 63rd minute equalizer following a break down in communication in the Wolves defence.

Then, Chinedum Ohanachom got the kill from Nasarawa’s 78th minute corner kick that caught the Warri boys defence flat-footed.

Chairman of Nasarawa United, Isaac Danladi, says the result was revenge mission accomplished.

“Last season, in January, Wolves came to Nasarawa and defeated us 2-1. As we prepared to go to them this season, I told the boys that it is time for revenge and that is precisely what we did.

“What we have going for us is a blend of youth and experience. Once you get the blend right, you are on winning ways.”

For Wolves manager, Evans Ogenyi, the result was simply unfortunate.

“It was a bad day for my boys. We missed chances and I could see anxiety in them. They wanted to up their game but once you get too anxious and do not calm down, you make mistakes. That is what happened and we only have to learn from it. That is the game of football. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.”
