The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has insisted that the eight-month old strike continues in spite of shift of ground by the Federal government on the payment of its members earned allowances.

It will be recalled that the federal government has accepted the exemption of the Union from Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS and the raise in the Earned Allowances to university staff from N30bn to N35bn and the revitalization fund from N20bn to N25bn by the Federal Government on Friday.

FG also agreed to ASUU’s demand to pay their members’ salary arrears from February to June through the old salary payment platform, Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System.

ASUU however made it known through its Twitter page that the strike continues as negotiation with FG continues next week.

The seven-hour meeting between ASUU and the FG had been adjourned to next week Friday, November 27.
