COVID-19: Digital platforms enhanced our growth – UBA

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc on Friday said that it has been able to grow across Africa despite the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.

Revealing the secret, in an ongoing virtual media parley, the Bank’s Group Head, Retail Liabilities, Ogechi Altraide, said d that UBA has invested “seriously” in its digital platforms, which affords the customers opportunity to bank from the comfort of their homes.

Altraide said: “COVID-19 does not mean that business should go down. We have invested seriously in our digital platforms.

“Customers can transact from the comfort of their homes. Consequently, during the lockdown, customers were able to bank conveniently without the need to approach the banking halls.”

Speaking on one of UBA’s loan facilities, Click Credit, she said “over 50,000 beneficiaries have been recorded so far.”

She also revealed that the Bank has won awards in about 6 countries of Africa including Sierra Leone, Gambia and Libya.

The event tagged ‘UBA Virtual Media Parley: Delivering Customer-Centric Solutions With Ogechi Altraide’ is a Pan-African parley with select media practitioners across Nigeria and Africa.

It has so far witnessed commendations, contributions and questions from media practitioners who speak in English and French from across Africa.
