Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan established 72 years ago is searching for her 13th Vice-Chancellor scheduled to be inaugurated 1st December, 2020.
The University Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Dr. Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi announced this in a special internal/external advert in the University Press release made available to Patmos Media Line.
Mrs. Faluyi said that the search to replace the present VC is in accordance to the provision of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No 11 of 1993 as amended by Act 2012.
The new VC will replace Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, a Professor of Applied Geophysics from Odo Ijesha in Osun State who was a former Deputy Vice Chancellor born 16th February 1958.
The new VC must have been a Professor for not less than ten years and not more than 65 years of age as at 1st of December, 2020 when he will resume duties and run the University for five years.
The University of Ibadan currently has a total of 41,743 students with 18,122 of them as Undergraduates; 15,024 Post Graduate students and 8,597 Distant Learning Students. There are 15 Halls of Residences providing accommodation for just 30% of the Students population.
The University that focuses on the production of Post Graduate students with several researches has staff strength of 5,339 some of them accommodated within the campus.
