COVID-19: Ogun releases plan for community testing

To further flatten the curve of coronavirus spread in Ogun State, the State Government has released a schedule for the free testing of suspected patients of COVID-19.

The schedule contains dates, venues and time for the exercise across all towns, villages and hamlets across the 20 LGAs in the State.

Listed are the 20 local governments LGAs and their wards. Each is uniquely allocated medical officers and scientists who would work on rotational basis to ascertain the COVID-19 status of citizens who turn up for screening in each LGA, at the dedicated venues and dates for the designated for the exercise.

Gov. Abiodun, in a statement released in Abeokuta, Sunday, urges everyone who falls within the national (NCDC) case definition, especially those with symptoms, to come forward and be tested for free.

This, according to him, will reduce the continued possibility of community transmission.

“Once an infected person or persons is or are identified, s/he is placed under close observation and treated. That’s how we can prevent community transmission”, he said.

Everyone, the statement added, is enjoined to make the best use of this welfare initiative of the State Government, and be tested for free by trained health personnel, so that the State may curtail the spread of the virus.
Ogun State had last week unveiled the protective glass box for the screening exercise to be used by health workers in the State to collect samples for forward testing at the Ogun State Walk-in and Drive-through Testing Centre at the Ijamido Town Hall, Opposite Ansar-u-Deen Comprehensive College
