Barely four days after his depostion, the magnificent library belonging to former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi with over 40,000 books and journals have been striped and evacuated from the palace.
The evacuation was done days after he was dethroned as the Emir by the Kano state Council headed by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Mujtaba Abba, Sanusi’s Private Secretary, made this known in an interview. He said over 40,000 books and journals at the library have been evacuated and taken to a safe location in the state.
“High Highness’ greatest concern was the fate of his books, so my sister and I stayed behind to ensure that we evacuated all the books. It took us sleepless nights to accomplish the task in two days.
“I made most of the transactions for the purchase of the books, and I can tell you, in conservative estimate, they’re worth over N200m,” he said.
