A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has summoned the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and Director General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, to appear before it over the continued detention of right activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore.

Counsel to Mr Sowore, human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Felana, during the Tuesday proceedings  made a fresh application for an order of the court to release the his client.

Recall that Sowore was re-arrested on the 6th of December in the court premises, barely twenty four hours after being released by the DSS as ordered by the court.

The presiding judge, Justice Ekwo, noted that he has seen all processes filed and adjourned the case to 23rd of December for hearing.

The judge also mandated the Deputy Chief of the Court to notify the AGF and DG DSS of the proceedings and the order.
