Osoba: Ogun APC crisis further deepens

739

THE crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressive Congress [APC] over the primaries to elect its candidates for the 2019 polls have continued to deepen by the hour  as most of the aspirants in the party are insisting that only a Direct election would be acceptable to the generality of the members

They are also dissociating themselves from any consensus arrangement being espoused by Governor Ibikunle Amosun who said he would release the list of 40 candidates allegedly chosen by consensus, to fly the party flag today.

As a result most aspirants have gone to Abuja to obtain their nomination forms after paying the specified fees and are now expecting the National Working Committee to release the list of officers that would be conducting the primaries as earlier stated.

Those said to have obtained their forms as said to include some people in Amosun’s camp said to be uncomfortable with the consensus arrangement.

Some of the Governrorship and Senatorial aspirants said to have obtained their forms include, Commissioner for Commerce; Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, former Deputy Governor , Ahaji Adegbenga Kaka, Prince, Dapo Abiodun, Otunba Jimi Lawal, Senator Lanre Tejuoso and several others.

Some of the aspirants were said not only to have obtained the forms but were said to have made it clear a primaries conducted  by the National would be acceptable to them.

Various groups and caucuses within the party including the Ijebu/Remo Agenda have also dissociated themselves from the consensus option but the most devastating was the allegation by a chieftain of the party from Ogun East Senatorial District, Alhaji Tunde Oladunjoye that he was coerced to move a motion for the adoption of the candidate of Governor Amosun, Hon, Abdukabir Akinlade by the Senatorial District.

Oladunjoye who in a statement said  that he was threatened to move the motion has however been described as “a serial liar” by the Party.

Adding to the development, former member of the House or Representatives and son of a national leader of the party, Hon Olumide Osoba whose name is been bandied in the consensus list dissociated himself from it insisting that he was not involved in any consensus and that only a direct primary in line with the National directive would be acceptable to him.

The son of former Governor Olusegun Osoba in a statement said that it was absurd and ridiculous for his name to appear in the list being peddled.

He said ” I, at no time participated in any consensus arrangement and neither was I contacted . I therefore wish to dissociate myself from the list, and on the issue of primaries of our great party for aspirants seeking to become candidates in the general elections of 2019, I totally abide by the ruling and communiquĂ© of the NWC and I am ready and willing to submit to a direct primary”

Hon Osoba wondered why his name was been peddled to have come out from Abeokuta South Local Government when he was registered in Geleodun Ward of Obafemi Owode Local Government where he  was  elected to represent  Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda  in the House of Rep between  2011 and 2015

“I owe full allegiance to that Federal Constituency and at no time have I entertained the thought of abandoning them to seek election into the House of Representative from another constituency. I served them with all I have and I am till this day, still grateful for the bond we have”
